review 1: This is the first Carolyn Brown book I’ve read. And, of course, because it’s me, I picked the second book in a series to read first. However, it was a really good book. I laughed nearly through the whole thing. It was a typical romance, lovely, funny, full of dates, and good feelings. There was a little sadness in a few parts of it, but it was really a wonderful read. I haven’t read a simple romance in a long time, and this one was a fun one. I think my favorite line in the whole book was when Pearl said, “That woman can get more information from two phone conversations than a detective can in six months,” when she was talking about her mother gossiping with her best friend’ mother. What I really liked about the novel was that you could see the romance ... moretaking shape. The relationship grew through phone calls, dates, romantic interludes, and flirting. Each moment added to the relationship that was growing between the two main characters. The flirted on the phone, they went on dates. There were doubts and fear intertwined with hopes and dreams. The truth is that when a person’s feelings become involved, there are doubts and fear wrapped up in the wonder of an infatuation and desire that turns into love and passion, and Carolyn Brown did a great job of showing how that works in this novel. Red’s Hot Cowboy was a wonderful mixture of southern charm and sass along with a great dose of good old fashion romance that swept me up in its magic.
review 2: A very nice read. Red owns a motel, and her hot cowboy rents a room. Due to a mix-up, she must rescue him, and that's where the sexy, romantic part of the story begins. She also rescues a woman in need of shelter, and I loved that the author chose to include awareness of domestic violence. I couldn't give the book 5 stars because of the head-hopping, which makes the book a little difficult to read, but it's a lovely romance, and I recommend it. less
