review 1: I couldn't help but get sucked into the world Black and Clare created. It may not be Harry Potter but it's pretty darn close. The only part that bothered me was how Cull could have gotten away with so much in a school where magic is everywhere - hiding a talking lizard and a wolf pup is not exactly easy! I can't wait for the next installment and hopefully we'll learn that the masters are not as clueless as they seemed in book one.
review 2: I really enjoyed the characters and story. I am surprised at all the Harry Potter references- I didn't think of Harry Potter at all as I was reading. There are many, many authors who have used this same theme, including popular authors like Patrick Rothfuss and Cinda Williams Chima. Each author creates their own details i... moren the characters, magics and stories to make it their own. I thought this was it's own unique story and will continue with the series. less
