review 1: I first started reading this because of all the Anne of Green Gables mentions. As both I and no doubt MS. McKenzie adore. Undoubtedly because the story of Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe is one of the greatest love stories ever told. In the beginning I found the story kind of dull, but it kept my attention through anticipation. And when Anne finally met Jack I found myself a little disappointed by Jack as a whole and that is what gives MS. McKenzie the edge. As I continued to read I found myself in Anne's shoes and discovered that I was falling in love with Jack at the exact same pace that she was. The growth of characters in this book both realistic and beautiful. This story really epitomizes how love can change a person for the better. I didn't find anything about this c... moreliche because it we too real to be anything else.
review 2: I started the book thinking it was ok, then it went to ugh I hate it, back to it's ok. I understand her friend being concerned and telling her to get a divorce, but going as far to signing a friends name on annulment papers and telling her afterwards, that would be no friend on mine. Voice your disapproval once fine, but controlling my life? goodbye. And Jack really pissed me off. I understand that he has to publish the book, but not telling her till she finds out..ugh. Obviously the "break up" was a given. Them getting back together in the end, ehhh I don't know. I finished the book only so it wouldn't linger in the back of my mind. I didn't get teary eyed at the end or think oh what a great ending..I just closed the book and moved on. less
