review 1: This was a satisfying end to the trilogy, although this last book really focused on the romantic relationship between Elizabeth and Iain, and less on the Templar aspect. That's okay because these two have had a long, tortured history. They had a relationship way back and he left her alone and heartbroken. Even worse, he left her while she was going through a macular degeneration that eventually leaves her blind. Despite her disability, Iain still pines for her, and might be the only woman he ever loved. Although, how does he prove this to her when he's a known rake? She doesn't trust him, but who would, with his reputation for bedding wealthy married ladies about town. I respected her character because she kept putting him off and made him prove the words he was tel... moreling her with his actions. The action in this book overlaps with the narrative from the previous book, Pride & Passion, so they make nice companion pieces, as the reader sees what happens from another point of view. I really liked the characters and the redemption they find in one another. I thought it was really original to have a blind heroine, and Featherstone pulls it off without a hitch. Elizabeth does have special needs, which makes for a different twist on a traditional love story.
review 2: maybe 3 1/2. i think this author needs to learn action helps throughout the book, particularly considering the way the second book ended. i was reading the ebook and i could have used more than the last thirty pages being what happened after the second book ended. satisfactory ending, but i could have used more. and what about the necklace iain bought? i would have liked to have seen the scene where he actually gave it to her! less
