review 1: So completely relateable... I loved it... Every woman needs a man who would say this to them... ~My God, every change in your body is becauseof me. Because of what we‟ve done. The love we‟ve made. The life wecreated. Yes, you‟ll think me some primitive brute, but I have to say it. Thisbody is because I filled you with my seed, and every lingering change is areminder to me that I‟ve given you something no man ever will.~
review 2: Well, I kinda loved this book and how messed up Matthew, Earl of Wallingford really was. And Jane, the lowly illegitimate bastard castoff turned nurse who was the catalyst for his ability to love another human being. First by physically cleansing his body and then by opening up his shattered mind and spiritually cleansing his ... moresoul. Wow! She was a pretty powerful woman! Loved that! That's not to say that Matthew didn't put Jane through her paces. I totally related to the aspect of how poorly he treated her when he first saw her. How he couldn't see the real her behind those spectacles and his hurtful words delivering that shattering blow to her self-esteem. The worst kind of hurt to a woman-he might as well have physically hit her(not in a good way ;). It angered me a lot! As one who has worn glasses (since I was very young) I felt such sadness for Jane. That feeling. The old saying, "Never judge book by it's cover" was never more appropriate than in this story. It was great that Jane was strong enough (I thought) for the both of them. Matthew's demons were ugly. I wanted to really give this 4.5 stars because my only thing was I didn't like her term of endearment "Matty". It was too juvenile and too close to the step-mother aspect of the story (kinda yucky for me). Still...I loved it. less
