review 1: I took one look at the cover and cringed, with my brain asking me if I was ready to delve into a book with such a cringe-worthy cover (yes, I can totally be judgemental and judge a book by its front cover), and I'm so happy I ignored it and went ahead because this turned out to be such a good, heart-wrenching read, filled with lots of very subtle humour. When Eve spies on the 6foot5 "gollum" buying a spot of pot from her cruel next door neighbour, an unlikely friendship blooms and blossoms between them as the gollum comes to her rescue after she trips over her Mum's garden pots and knocks herself unconscious. What unfolds is a story of self-discovery and bravery, where Eve dares to grasp for freedom and hold on to it.I loved the two mcs. Eve is such a strong and resilient c... moreharacter that I couldn't help but feel for her. The glimpses that we get of how horribly frightening her life is under the oppressive rule of her sorry-ass father had me aching for her, and subsequently cheering her on for not letting him break her, as is evident of the books she would secretly read and spontaneous actions such as second-hand smoking pot. I also was kinda surprised at her raunchy thoughts, a pleasant surprise that had me snickering when she would stun Tyler with those very thoughts. Ah, Tyler. What can I say about Tyler that hasn't already been said? He makes it onto my list of book boyfriends that ruined me for being so sweet and gentle that I was rolling in all these mushy feels. Though he's not only sensitive and kind, he's also pretty badass. Note to all authors: if your badass male mc can't take a crowbar to the face and shrug it off like it ain't nothing but a thing, then your argument is invalid. The only problems I had with the book (and admittedly, I'm nitpicking here), is there wasn't enough dialogue to suit me. I enjoyed reading Eve's inner thoughts but I absolutely loved the awkward communication between the two. I wished they would have had more lines though now that I think about it, I'm not quite sure if they could have achieved said awkwardness if they did have more dialogue. And to return to my first point, dat cover tho.But all that aside, really enjoyed this and can't wait to explore more of Charlotte Stein's writings.
review 2: An amazing sensual romantic story that evolves Evie, a naive girl who was being abused by her dad and never experience life in the way it suppose to be till she meet her saviour, Van who is a punk tattooed guy. He teaches life, world of passion and love. It was so funny and shocking to read the Eve the Virgin was the one who was pushing Van to have sex with her but he took it as slow knowing she is very innocent yet naughty naively. One of the book that makes you to get hooked up. Love the book and the bond of Evie and Van! ❤️ less
