review 1: The first book in Chris Lynch's WWII series. There are very few things Roman loves more than baseball, and his country is top priority. When Japan invites America into WWII, Roman leaves his baseball dreams and enlists for the Army. However, Roman is great at driving the M-4 Sherman Tank and is much more talented in the army. As the team continues to dive deeper into North Africa one thing is certain "It's a whole new ball game."I absolutely love this book! Everything Roman says about baseball someone has told me or is completely true. I honestly love this tank they drive and it makes the team work together and a lot of action is based around it.If you are a baseball guy you'll love this book and if you like history (A history wizard like me) then you'll love this book! So... more you like that kind of stuff, THEN READ IT! (Sadly this book comes to an end)
review 2: Chris Lynch is a natural writer, creating characters real and natural, as is his main character in this novel, Roman, loving baseball, playing at the minor league level, in love with a young woman, also a baseball player and fan, but who realizes in the late summer of 1941, that the world is at war, and his country will soon be a part of that war. Leaving baseball behind and his girlfriend, who has become his fiancee, he leaves for boot camp, becomes a tank driver, and after training, finds himself battling Rommel's German tank corp in the deserts of North Africa. If you want action, with a little romance, and a character who begins to understand the true nature of friendship, than jump on this baby. You won't want to stop reading until you reach the last page. Then you'll hunger for more! less

Solid historical fiction. Not quite as graphically visceral as his Vietnam series.
