review 1: Pale by Chris Wooding. In a world were you can come back after you're dead things are about to turn very horrible for Jed. Jed is a normal person, he isn't a Pale or a Returned, he is a normal living person. When he and his girlfriend, Sadie are crossing the road, a car is coming but neither of them see it. Is it too late? Which one got hit? Jed pushed Sadie out the way and saves her only to die but he has the right blood type to be able to turn into a Pale. What will Sadie do? Let her love one die or let him come back as a horrible Pale. The main character, Jed, he's a normal person but he hates Pales. He bullies them and he doesn't want anything to do with them. His family are the same, his dad even works as a afterlife lawyer to take everything of them. But the tables ar... moree turned and he soon is a Pale. I love his character and I love how he has to come to terms with being a Pale, weather he likes it or not he's not got a choice. The other main characters are Kyle, Jed's former best friend. He alongside Jed hates Pale's but even more than Jed. He wants to kill them, which Jed doesn't want to do. I really like his character, although he's really mean. Then we have Sadie, Jed's ex-girlfriend, she was really good in this. She did what anyone would do in that situation. Either loose your love one or keep them alive as a Pale. I would of liked to see more of her but she still was really good in it. Other major characters are the twins Nate and Ash. Although they do appear in the book quite frequently they don't really do much apart from be Kyle's pets, which I hated. I wanted to see a lot more from these two. One of the other major characters is David Bloom, one of the major Pales. Although at first I thought he was only a small character he surprised me. He appeared pretty much all the way through and he was more of a friend to Jed. Helping him steal Lazarus Serum from school and also helping him when the flats set on fire. I have read this three times round now and I absolute love it each time. The plot is great and it's gripping. It's just amazing! The book is so fast paced and the story is so original, the concept is very imaginative. The writing style of Chris Wooding is amazing and I feel this world is just great and I would love more. Make that a sequel or a spin off, I would love to read more of this world and find out more about the Pales.
review 2: Zombies are in this year and this book is an interesting take on that theme. Jed's dad is an afterlife lawyer which means he feeds off the misfortune of the pales, the people who have been brought back to life with a Lazarus serum. The pales are ostracized by society and bullied by everyone. One day, Jed dies in a car accident and gets the Lazarus serum by his girlfriend who can't bear to see him die. Where the plot goes from here is a bit unpredictable. This book is entertaining and short. Good choice for those of you who don't like to read! less

I'd really love to read more of it... It's a great story for an anime. The end is so WOW XD

A hi-lo that hits the same themes as some other longer dystopian novels.
