review 1: after reading the first story this is two steps up on the heat scale. A lot of talk of what their going to do but is just talk until finally Jennifer take matters into her own hands, literally. The wrote time their having their two day romp in Maine there is something going on in the background, Alex keeping secrets and there is security but Jennifer is not apprised of the situation. This story had it's moments of frustrating for me. Jennifer tended to act very immature about what was going on and how she felt about Alex, and of course Alex wasn't helping the situation in keeping the whole thing away from her. Considering the fact that Alex was here first you would have thought she was in love with help but no, she doesn't know yet. Right! That was a little hard to believ... moree, just how dense is she anyway?I mean let's be realistic nine times out of ten it's the woman that falls in love with the man and especially after they have had sex, she's not going to be like that was wonderful but did he say her loved me? I'm not ready for that and don't call me your girlfriend. Yeah, something not quite clicking in her steel plated head. Kind of wished she would have been winged at the end. Well it wasn't the end it's just another cliff hanger until the next story.
review 2: Annihilate Me volumes 1-5 is considered the new “adult” reading. However, it has some surprising characteristics that are not expected. Each of the volumes are full-length books, not those puny novellas. Due to the lengths of the books, the characters actually have time to develop and grow, allowing the reader to enjoy the changes. In the first book in the series, Jennifer and Alex do not even have sex. Do not think the book is without the sexual tension and overtones, because they are there in full force.Jennifer has come to New York with her business degree to start a new life in a highly competitive field. She is struggling to get a job when one falls into her lap, but it was not the type of job she was expecting. Alexander Wenn needs a foil to keep the talons of unattached females away from him. From this the story moves on into threats, love, hatred, fear and compassion. The novels were slow in places. There is a need to really appreciate shopping and fancy couture dresses as that takes up a great deal of the book. Alexander is very rich and needs to project a specific image so Jennifer has to be “dressed” appropriately.I am not going to address each book specifically, because as a whole they encompass a complete story. I am going to read more of Christina Ross. She has another set of books coming out that is going to focus on Jennifer’s best friend and her love interest while allowing us to check in with Jennifer and Alex’s happy life. less
