review 1: on a week long holiday to New Zealand, Valla is kidnapped as payment for some sort of debt. Delivered to Brocan Judge at his cabin in the mountains, Valla is faced with a decision, stay, or go?? changed slightly, as Judge doesn't actually kidnap Valla, someone else does, for a debt, although WHAT that debt is, is not made clear. And there isn't the long absence at the end, just a bungled explanation as to how Valla came to be with Judge, as she has been reported missing. the D/s relationship between Valla and Judge is fierce, and intense, but not at all emotional. or it doesn't come across as such to me. would like to have heard from Judge, as well as Valla.some dialogue is being repeated from book to book (this is the third in a row I've read, so I'm noticing it!) and its... more becoming annoying. the male leads use "woman" a lot at the end of their comments, and "baby" in all sorts of places that don't seem right. still, a nice easy read, took just over an hour.3 fangsreviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock
review 2: Valla likes to travel somewhere exotic once a year and this year she chose to take a guided camping tour in New Zealand. She spends this time seeing and learning about new places and things and uses it to unwind from her job as an art consultant. Even though she’s quick to make friends with her trip mates, she’s shy when it comes to being the center of attention. Brocan Judge is a large and mysterious man. He appears to be a modern Crocodile Dundee. In actuality, he owns and runs a successful mining company he inherited from his father. He also happens to be a Dominant. While not an extreme sadist, he does have a firm hand.Valla runs into Judge a couple of times while in a small town near their campsite; first during lunchtime in the local café and then again that evening in the bar. After a provocative karaoke performance, Valla finds herself alone with Judge only for the moment to be interrupted. Subsequently she is reflective when heading back to camp a little sadden that her chance has been missed. Suddenly she is kidnapped without pretense and awakens with the man that was on her mind. What will happen next?Like the previous books from Christine Edwards, I found this to be enjoyable. It has a quick pace which keeps the page turn while the action is burning. That being said, I am also left with mixed feelings. The main characters have an intense chemistry and connection from the start but with her being kidnapped it makes pushes the limits on how they can have an honest and healthy fling or relationship especially when you throw in BDSM principles. Like previous heroines, Valla definitely displays a bratty side; she quite enjoys pushing Judges buttons which makes their interactions fun to read. I think Claimed in Canada is still my favorite of this group of books but this one has the fieriest sex. It will undeniably leave you hot and bothered with the detailed scenes. This in another gratifying read and I can’t wait until the next.~ARC received in exchange for honest review.~ less
