review 1: I'm chuckling as I write this review, because admitting to the fact that I couldn't put it down is like confessing I just ate a stack of pancakes slathered in chocolate sauce and peanut butter. The writing wasn't the best, but after about three chapters I was hooked. I stopped caring that it wasn't good for me, and shamefully gorged myself on it. I bought the second one in the series before I even finished the first.
review 2: This is the worst book I've ever read.Jessie- or should I say Jessica?- is a dull narrator, no description at all except when talking about herself and saying her best friend Alex isn't as pretty as her. The book is boring, unimaginative, the plot is cliche. I have no idea how this guy is a New York Times bestselling writer. This book
... moresucked. The plot is confusing, they don't explain anything, and how the heck did this get published? From the summary on the back, I expected a love triangle, not a bunch of random magic stuff and her killing Russell with like no guilt at all. Jessica is a shallow character. It's like "ooh! I have magical powers! And oooh! I'm gonna freak out that gangster and threaten him just because I can! And ooh! I think I can do whatever I want and be all whiny!" Boring. Boring. Boring. Reading this book was tedious.Jimmy/James. What the heck? Oh, I have history with this guy I've never met who is my boyfriend and we have a daughter I never knew about but I immediately love even though I've never shown any motherly instinct at all. Yeah, and that's all fine because it was a different life. Seriously? less
