review 1: I was really disappointed in The Secret of Ka after reading Christopher Pike's Thirst Series and Remember Me. Usually Christopher Pike has a female protagonist that quickly adapts and begins to solve any issue with or without a guy besides her, and in this case there was a guy. The romance just seemed forced and unnecessary after the male love interest turned out to be selfish, corrupt, and greedy and the female protagonist seemed to turn a blind eye. The Secret of Ka was a major let down for me even with Pike's classical plot twist, maybe I just had high hopes for it but The Secret of Ka was not one of Pike's best.
review 2: very easy to read. i got way into it, even though i was kind of annoyed at first, i quote myself in saying "great, another pike book that
... more is every white suburban middle class american girl's wet dream". buut then some things happened i got way into, and then i finished it in three days.freakiest part was by far attaching Amesh's dead arm back onto his body. wasn't expecting that one! that's fucked up, pike!!i found the djinn/human relationship made for a very interesting tension and contribution to the story. parts of it were super cheesy.. like when the carpet knocks on her window? pff c'mon. although there were lots of flaws and this was probably the cheesiest pike book i've ever read (probably just because of the subject matter), the flaws were more or less forgivable. white suburban girl turns out to be of an ancient western Asian descent with magical bloodline, pff. c'mon. surprise greed and bitter hate coming from what we assumed was a sensitive one armed teen boy... not as surprising as you'd think. the "dad isn't really her dad, he's a willing slave to a race of evil darkness beings" twist was like, what???? but it kept the novel going. overall not bad. i enjoyed reading it. i couldn't get enough. i'll probably edit this review later with more to say. that's all for now. less

Overall a good book, although I thought Pike could have written the climax better.
