review 1: I'm not generally a fan of short story collections by favorite authors but C.J. Box's collection is a nice read for a summer weekend. The collection contains several short stories featuring Joe Pickett, one that features Nate Romananski, and the rest are stand alone. My favorite was the Ending of Ezra and John--a story set in the 1800's. One of the most interesting parts of this books was at the beginning where Box briefly explains where he got the idea for each of the stories.
review 2: This is a collection of 10 short stories by C.J. Box - 4 stars. Some of the stories feature Joe Picket, one involves Joe's friend Nate Romanowski, and all but one feature Wyoming as a main character--that last one is set in Paris and features a couple Arapaho Indians working
... more the wild west show. Every story is well written and engaging - the characters are believable, and the plot twists usually come as a surprise. The trick with a short story is being able to really bring the characters to life in such limited space, but C.J. Box proves himself a master at that task, especially with the shortest story proving that the most important things can be said in the fewest words. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an introduction to Box's writing. less

It was fun to see where some of CJ Box's originated.
