review 1: Whoa, what a ride! I didn't know what to expect from this book, and I have seen some people express disappointment from reading the summary of it beforehand. I am glad I didn't do that. I genuinely had no idea this was a thriller, which made it so much better once the twists came. I was reading this as a book comparable to The Fault in Our Stars, a teen's reflection on living with a fatal illness, so I was absolutely knocked off my feet when the revelations flooded out. I can easily split this novel into a Before and After, and each part has value. Part A shows the reader that Scarlett, even with an illness threatening to kill her at any moment, is able to live and arguably thrive. After shows a whole different kind of illness, this time coming from Scarlett's mothe... morer. The writing wasn't all that great throughout the book, and I never managed to care about the side characters much, but man, that plot twist is one I'm going to remember for years.
review 2: For her whole life, Scarlet has spent more of her time in hospitals than anywhere else. Luckily her mom is a nurse, and she's saved Scarlet's life more than once, although it's common knowledge that Scarlet isn't expected to live much longer. Scarlet has always been homeschooled because of her illness, but now at 15 she has persuaded her parents to let her attend her local high school. Her mom has given her one week to prove herself, but Scarlet might not make it even that long. From the very first step into the school Scarlet crosses paths with the school bully, who goes out of his way to tease and torment her. She does make some friends, but the stress of high school may kill her before her heart does… less

Guessed what was going on and the ending seemed "rushed" but I still enjoyed the book.
