review 1: This was my first book by Claire Cook, and, while not awful, it wasn't great either. At first I wasn't really sure why I mildly disliked the main character, but by the end of the book I really didn't like her at all. She was weak and much too overprotective of her daughter in an overbearing, helicopter parent sort of way. I tried really hard to put myself in her shoes, but still felt that she was stuck in the past and refused to move on, sort of the point, so I guess that was well communicated. The book was written well but seemed to take a while to get to the point in several places. It was pretty predictable, and the ending was what I'd hoped for. My real issue was the main character, not the writing or story line necessarily. I'd probably read another book from t... morehe author.
review 2: Good overall, but a bit too predictable in many places. I often found myself reading more at a scanning pace..as the characters were moving in a predictable fashion which left little to the imagination. The story was engaging but I had to only give 4 stars as I was not at all in love with the ending..no spoiler alert..just suffice to say if you care for ..or grow to care for...more than just one character you find yourself saying..'Well, what about....?' And left with no answer. less
