Kobato.
review 2: I read this volume at the same time as the first volume of this series & I have to admit, I wasn't quite sure if I'd like it or not. The first volume was nice, but
... more just seemed to lack substance. This volume finds a bit more plot coming into play, so it's giving me a little more hope for the series.Kobato's quest is far from over, but now that she's got her bottle she is a little bit closer to earning her wished for journey. Unfortunately she hasn't learned all that much when it comes to common sense, so most of her attempts to find people to help ends with Kobato being turned away or potentially abducted. She finally manages to land a job at a floundering kindergarten where Fujimoto (a boy she meets in the first volume) also seems to work at. Managing to make some progress on her quest, all seems bright for Kobato until she runs across a loan shark who demands that she tell the kindergarten's owner that she better pay up... or else.I liked that there was more of a plot to this volume & that Kobato seems to be making some progress when it comes to her quest. I also liked that there was a bit of development when it comes to what might become a potential love triangle between Kobato, Fujimoto & the owner of the kindergarten. Of course the artwork in this volume is still fantastic & the characters are all very cute, but the series still has a way to go before it can really be compared to some of CLAMP's other works.Like some of the other reviewers have said, this isn't quite a five star book just yet. It is closer to one than the first volume was, but it just doesn't seem to capture me & draw me entirely into Kobato's world. I still have hope though- this is CLAMP, after all & excellence is common for them. less
