review 1: There's actually very little dark side in this book, which I loved in her highly successful Penance Novel. That said this book is a romantic joy to read.Witty characters throughout this romantic comedy breaks your heart and makes you cry laughing. With Clare Ashton you are guaranteed a well rounded quality read... the cover design is a must for the bookshelf. Please Clare Don't stop your talent is so enjoyable, secretly I am hoping for the dark side in your next project. That based only on Penance being in top ten best reads list. I am sure I will return to this book again, it is so full of beautiful characters and wonderful moments.
review 2: Overall, I enjoyed this book, but I did have some hangups about it. But first, what I really liked - the author did a gr
... moreeat job of really capturing London. The dialog was good and there were a lot of moments that had me laughing. I really loved the Ed character. And, the writing in this book is some of the best in this genre (not that this statement means all that much as the majority of writing in this genre is not that great). My biggest problem with this book was the talk about dreaming about a NYC pretzel. It was really a letdown to see that the author did such a good job capturing London and then did so poorly with NYC. No one eats those pretzels other than what you might see on TV shows set in the city. As a former NYC resident, I strongly urge you all to avoid those things like the plague. If you can't resist though, do know that it will taste like the smoke that is billowing up from the cart. Yeah, no one eats those things or dreams about it. Now, if she had made that pretzel a bagel, deli reuben, or a dirty water hot dog (from the same cart as the pretzel), then it would've been believable. The worst thing about this is that she thanked someone at the end of the book for helping her out with NYC knowledge ::facepalm:: And if the author hadn't captured London so damn well, then I probably would't have cared as much about this blasted pretzel. All things considered, it was an entertaining read. less
