review 1: I really enjoyed the interior monologue and personal scenes among the main characters as well as the psychological explanations of what makes a killer tick. Too often these types of novels are mainly about the graphic descriptions of what a twisted mind will do with no follow up as to......why? Yes, mother was a bad lady and daddy was worse- but what makes THIS person do what so many others manage not to?[return]Normally i don't enjoy this gendre because I find it disturbing and far from enjoyable to read details of such violence when there is already so much of it in "real life". To me, not entertainment. However the way mcFadyen draws attention more to the "good guys" and their own turmoil has made me want to read more from this author. [return]On a side note, this ... moreisn't the best novel to listen to on audio book if thats what puts you to sleep at night. :)
review 2: Quarto e ultimo capitolo, per ora, per le avventure dell'agente FBI Smoky Barrett e dei suoi colleghi. Il migliore. Sebbene possano essere discutibili e cervellotiche le catene deduttive che portano la squadra alla soluzione del caso, la storia stavolta è decisamente fuori dagli schemi. Eccessiva, come è lecito che sia trattandosi di serial killer romanzeschi, ma interessante e non scontata. Ancora non è chiaro perché la cara Smoky, dopo tutte quelle che ha passato, si ostini a dare la caccia ai criminali mettendo a repentaglio la vita dei propri familiari, ma questo "Il predatore" mi fa ben sperare. Credo ancora nel buon proseguimento di una serie partita un po' in sordina per i miei gusti, ma che pare pronta a decollare. E vorrei vedere: dopo quattro capitoli... less
