review 1: I'll keep this spoiler free… “Under Wildwood” is Part Two of the Wildwood series. If you are a fan of the first book, you’ll want to pick up this second installment right away, and then ultimately, the third and final book. Now I’m going to get critical for a moment... I very much enjoyed the journey of “Under Wildwood” but by the end it simply felt like unnecessarily long segue to what I hope remains an intriguing trilogy. The first “Wildwood” felt complete and I expected an entirely new story arc with this second installment, but we return to the same magical wood, and in many ways, battle the same foes (although, not literally). Aside from the somewhat lackluster continuation (perhaps only surprising to me), it was impossible to feel empathy for intent... moreionally ambiguous foes with unspecified motives. (I’m looking at you hired-assassin Kitsunes.) The oft implied future resolution never comes and instead we are left dangling at the end of the proverbial cliffhanger. That said, I’m itching to get my paws on the final pages, so complaints aside, I really am enjoying the Wildwood Series.
review 2: I loved this book even more than the first one!!! The same characters were involved and you grew to love them even more, and there was even some new characters that added a little spice to the story. I love Wildwood so much and I think that this series isn't getting nearly as much buzz as it should be getting. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has read the first book and would like a nice little break from reality. less
