review 1: Two young women who happens to be related to two famous people in history. Did you figure it out? Hint, read the book cover. Steam punk at its best with the flair of the past of dreary. Quirky, fun and exciting read. Mina Holmes and Evaline Stoker merged their talents and by doing so this story delightfully entertained you. Here you have two polar opposites but they complement each other when they are on the hunt for answers. I was thrown through the travel of time unraveling things that was shelved ions ago. The characters were so believable and downright compelling. Historically accurate, eye opening events. Solve a murder with only one clue; a strange Egyptian scarab. The pressure is on as stated in the book. This part I found funny and there were many bu... moret this one stood out, Dylan said, "Stoker? As in . . . Bram Stoker? Didn't he write Dracula?" Evaline Stoker, her eyes widened. "He is writing a book. About a vampire. Do you mean to say you know the book? From your time?" "Oh, um . . .crap." Hey even Scooby -Doo was mentioned in this story. All in all, very good, lessons of sleuth investigations, crushes, and their human sides. There is more to the story but I'll leave it for you to read the book. You should get it I know you will be entertained because I certainly was. The author's writing style caused my anxious mind to prematurely guess the outcome and that took someone who has the talent of distinctive writing. I won this book on Goodreads First Read Giveaway. Thank you, Darlene Cruz
review 2: This was my first Steampunk read. Just that facet alone took a little getting used to, but I ended up enjoying the book. It was lots of fun to consider what the relatives of Bram Stoker and Sherlock Holmes might be up to plus time travel was thrown into the mix (a plus for a Whovian like me). I get that this is a series but the book does end with a lot of unanswered questions which bothers me a bit. All in all, good book. less
