review 1: The beautiful cover of this book is really quit deceiving, the story within it is almost pitiful. There was no character development, no explanations, and tons of heavily sexual abusive scenes that I speculate were for shock appeal. Instead of taking in every page with some sort of excitement, I was dreading every word. I'll give Daisy some credit though, because it's obvious that she must have worked hard on this book, her imagery and descriptions are good, but she should work on A) making some characters and the very least likeable B) not rely on shock appeal scenes. A waste of $15 on a paperback if you ask me.
review 2: This was an easy and pretty quick read. I agree with other readers... Absolutely nothing earth shattering happens in this book. There's no... more in-depth character development and none of the characters are very likeable. I like to pick sides in a book, have a character to root for throughout a story. It's ok if the favorite character changes, but any character development is nice! With all that said, the book did keep my attention and I enjoyed the very Downton Abbey feel it had despite it being a pretty shallow book - character and plot wise. I usually enjoy historical fiction, but prefer when there are more historically significant events that impact the plot as well as the characters. This book did not have anything like that. I believe the historical descriptions were accurate, but not very interesting. I gave it three stars because I did enjoy it, but I'll probably never read it again nor will I read another book by this author. less
