Modern Love Story
review 1: With so many NA and YA books out there, how refreshing to have one that is MA, with characters in their later thirties or, gasp, early forties. There is something very satisfying, and beautiful, in the story of a woman who has had relationships but never real love finding it after so many years. So, without spoilers, the question is, what will she do with it? Selah Elmore is essentially set up on a transatlantic blind date with Gerhard. After a week of dinners, drinks, great company, and one single goodbye kiss, Selah is off to Ghana for months of research and lots of time to soul-search. How Gerhard re-enters her life, and how their relationship develops, is just great fun. I forgot to mention that they are both witty, sensual, and very likeable characters. I fell in love... more with them as they fell in love with each other. Thank you Daisy Prescott!
review 2: I cannot express how much I enjoyed this book. Selah is in her early 40’s, never married, no kids and has no problem with that. She enjoys her life unashamedly. Kai is in his mid 30’s, divorced, with one child. He is redefining his concept of success. When they meet something special is apparent from the very beginning. Watching these two get together in this sexy funny story had me staying up late turning pages. Highly recommended. less
