review 1: I'm not a zombie fan. In fact, I've never even felt inclined to read a zombie book, despite their overwhelming popularity of late. But, on the recommendation of a friend I picked this up. And then I couldn't put it down.Well-written, sarcastic (just my kind of humor!), not too gory, but still made me shudder a few times, with a new twist on the whole zombie idea, Dana Fredsti make me hungry (not for brains but for a sequel). The story was edge-of-your-seat, the hero hot, the heroine brave, smart and loyal.Whether or not you like "zombie stories", do yourself a favor and try this. As long as you like clever, interesting stories that are exciting and sweet, you'll like this one.
review 2: Finally! A guilt-free guilty pleasure book! Hooray!I loved it, obviou... moresly. Take your favorite "easy read" and add humor, intelligence, wit, spicy romance, and zombie ass-kicking - the book is pure delight. Ashley Drake, the zombie hunting lead character, reminds me of Buffy without being at all derivative; the story is engaging and fast-paced from beginning to end; and I laughed out loud many times. (This earned me interesting looks from Boyfriend on occasion.) I'd recommend to anyone, really - male or female, and I think it would appeal to fiction readers of most genres. less
