review 1: The structure and concept of this were pretty brilliant -- woman wakes up with no memories & has to reinvent herself based on letters of instruction from her 'predecessor.' Also, it turns out she's a high-ranking official in a supernatural espionage organization. I enjoyed the characterization of both Mwyfwnys. I thought that the ways in which the 'new' Mwyfwny was able to adjust required some suspension of disbelief (I mean, in a different way than 'supernatural espionage organization' does) and I was a little let down by the suspense/mystery plot + grossed out by some of the story elements. But overall I did enjoy this and am looking forward to the next book.
review 2: This novel is now one of my favourite books...ever! The way the plot was constructed was pu
... morere genius and half way through I already new so much about the background but Daniel O'Malley wrote it in a way that was just so riveting you felt you could still read more. I love Myfanwy and the novel was subtle in its humor but hilariously funny, in what seemed like dark moments I was chuckling to myself. I love the small details O'Malley was able to include and then found myself ohhing and ahhing when it came into play later in the book. The Rook is set up brilliantly for its sequel! Very excited :) less
