review 1: I have read a great deal of science fiction, but I think the premise of this book is quite different and interesting. If you're squeamish, there's a chapter or 2 near the beginning that disturbed me to read, but I was intrigued enough with the author's concept that I persevered. I'm glad I did. The author's prose is nothing special. Editing to eliminate repetitive adjectives would've helped. But it is a "good read."
review 2: Listened to the Audible version. Very good narrator. Pretty good scifi/thriller. I have to compare it to the early days of Tom Clancy... those were so tense that I couldn't put them down. While reading this one I had an enforced gap where I just couldn't listen and finish it for a week or so, and I wasn't stressed or fussed about
... morenot knowing what was going to happen next. I disagree with some of the author's choices (I thought the climax was too focused on action rather than a more nuanced resolution of dilemmas, but that's my opinion), but it was worth listening too. less
