review 1: Danielle Corsetto - writerZack Sterling - illustratorLumpy Space Princess plans a surprise birthday for herself, but to her shame only four of her friends (Breakfast Princess, Turtle Princess, Skeleton Princess and Muscle Princess) show up for the party! Meanwhile, BMO wishes upon a falling star that he "had what it takes inside of him" to be a princess. A nearby wizard grants his wish and all the princesses at the surprise party are transported inside his tiny, robotic body! Now the princesses must work together to beat all the video games inside of BMO before he runs out of power and traps them forever! Do the princesses have what it takes? Will BMO learn the true meaning of being a princess? Will Lumpy Space Princess ever overcome the shame of her lame surprise birthday... more party? Find out in "Pixel Princesses" - another great story from the Adventure Time creative team!Highly recommended for heroic cool dudes and empowered, self-sufficient princesses.4.5/5
review 2: This was cute, but it felt a bit thin in places, as if the story and the art weren't enough. I was a little disappointed at the black and white illustrations when AT is such a colorful and exciting show. This book felt very "book-ish" by comparison. These quibbles aside, it was super cool to see some of the minor characters getting some major development, and I especially like Breakfast Princess' take on the whole episode. less
