A Girl Like Me (Ginger Scott)

We’re celebrating the release of A GIRL LIKE ME by Ginger Scott! Readers have fallen in love with these characters! A Girl Like Me by Ginger Scott Book 2 in the Like Us Duet A mature YA romance, and a little something more… Goodreads | Amazon | iBooks  | Kobo | BN

I’m not supposed to be here.

Death has come for me more than once, and each time it’s been a boy who’s stood between me and my final breath.

I called him Christopher when he saved me as a child. When he came into my life again, only months ago, I knew him as Wes. Just as he did the time before, he disappeared the moment he made sure I was out of harm’s way; as if I didn’t need any more saving.

This time, though, death left me with a reminder of how powerful it is. I know it meant to strip me of my spirit again, but it failed.

Even so, I know I need Wes to survive. Our souls are woven together somehow, our every breath in sync. I feel it, even though everyone says I shouldn’t.

The world thinks he’s missing. His loved ones don’t want to believe he’s dead. Only I know just how special he is.

I’m going to find him and bring him home, where he belongs. Together, we’ll face impossible — we’ll rewrite our ending.

And when the bad guys come calling, we will always win.

Review:

I was so excited to get my hands on this ARC, because I loved loved LOVED book one, A Boy Like You.

Once again I loved Ginger Scott’s writing, it’s just amazing, and if you haven’t read any of her books yet, what the hell are you waiting for?! It’s just great.

I think I loved the characters even more during this book, if possible. Joss just became this strong and fantastic girl. So determined! She got through everything, after what happened to her at the end of book 1, I was expecting her to be awesome, but I was in awe with this girl. She’s just so damn amazing. She’s not messed up anymore, she’s just FANTASTIC!

Wes is another amazing character, though I have to admit that I needed a bit more about him. While I loved the “something more” on this story, I felt somewhat cheated for the lack of explanation and some of the events by the end.

I loved all the other secondary characters too, especially Joss’ dad, Grace and Kyle. Kyle is just so awesome, and I need a book about this beautiful beautiful boy, who is the most amazing friend in the world. I was kind of expecting Taryn to have more of a role in this book, but I felt like she just kind of faded in the background.

I really liked the plot and the pace of this book. I loved that the book took its time. And I really really like what Ginger Scott tried to do with Wes and Joss’ story. But eventually, some things were just a bit too much out there for me, and I needed some kind of explanation or logic behind some of the events.

Unsurprisingly, I also loved the romance and the connection between Joss and Wes. I liked how they got each other. How they pushed each other to be better. How they loved unconditionally and entirely. They’re an awesome couple, and the support they have each other was just fantastic.

Overall, this was a great ending for this series, and it would have been perfect, if it wasn’t for my need to get some concrete answers about stuff. I absolutely recommend this duet, so go read it!
