review 1: well done. I am grateful that I did not have to dissect this book in jr high or high school or college. a fun story with evil and treachery wrapped in a cozy blanket of familiar security. I read this book in lieu of the one I was looking for from someone's "classics" list by the same author. And, though I have only seen the movie "Rebecca", I am still in pursuit of the one called "The Glass Blowers". Nicely done Ms duMaurier....nicely done.
review 2: Jamaica Inn is a classic gothic romance with all the right elements. A damsel in distress that actually has more courage than she realized. Beautiful writing and description, mediocre story. Pretty predictable, and not much to cheer for.
