review 1: Bought this book as a recommendation...I'm so glad I did. It was completely wonderful. I love the writing style. I was completely immersed into the story from the first page. The characters were so engaging. Phillipa was witty and quite entertaining in all her unintentional indiscretions. And then there is Ambrose...wow, what a tortured, sexy beast. The story was so entertaining and perfectly paced, I found it difficult to put down. I have since learned this is the third book in the series, so I have promptly bought the rest of Darcy Burke's books. I'm currently devouring the other stories as well. I highly recommend this book and this author!
review 2: I labored through this book and had to put it down several times before continuing it. Ambrose, for
... more all his wickedness (his assessment) still proves to be honorable in ensuring Philippa’s good name is not besmirched. Going through inordinate lengths to do just that…for a passing acquaintance? Really? Philippa starts out naïve and ends up jaded (I mean with parents like hers…). Jaded enough to actually follow the man to convince him to marry her. I just felt a sense of “the lady doth protest too much”, on both their parts, throughout the whole book. less

I enjoyed more the first half of the book than the second. I found the first half more romantic.
