review 1: I liked it enough, but it took me a while to get used to the dusky art style which ultimately does fits the story well. The ending was a foregone conclusion and the story feels very condensed, all plot almost no characterization. What little character development there is, combined with the quick flow was enough to keep the page turning. I'm not impressed but it gave me just enough to want to continue reading the series. (When I can chance upon them at the library.)
review 2: Oh boy...you have to love this Parker books...the cocky and confident anti-hero grows on you. Cooke does a fantastic job with the source material in this twisted roller coaster ride of a book. This is the second book where Parker gets himself a new face and goes after the Outfit and its
... morehead honchos. The outfit tries to kill Parker but does not succeed So than its Parkers turn to go after them and he hits them so hard that it has them reeling all the way from the west coast to Chicago. It has some daring Oceans Eleven type of heist which make this a wonderful read. I read the book in two days but still was forgetting the awful lot of names and who's who. A cast of character list would have helped. Thats my only value add otherwise the books a class. less
