Charley Davidson
review 1: I really liked this book. Gnarls Davidson is a part time private investigator and full time Grim Reaper. Complicated is her middle name. The deceased find her very sparkly. Demons find her irresistible. And one entity wants to seduce her in every way possible. When Charley and her best friend/receptionist Cookie track down a missing woman, the case is not the way they anticipated. Cookie's friend Mimi disappeared five days ago. Mimi then sends a cryptic message telling Cookie to meet her at a nearby coffee shop. Mimi is still missing, there is however a clue Mimi left on the bathroom wall a womans name. Mimi's husband says she has been acting strange since she found out a high school friend was murdered. The same woman she found scribbled on the bathroom wall. Meanwhile Rey... morees Alexander Farrow aka son of satan left his corporeal body and is haunting Charley. He left his body cause he is being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But if the demons get to Charley they'll have a portal to heaven. And that portal to heaven will not be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Can she keep those she loves out of harmed way?
review 2: I love this series so far because of its witty one-liners and dry sarcasm from the female protagonist, grim reaper Charley Davidson. It's sexy but tasteful, interesting and intriguing, exciting and sobering. Sometimes Charley can be frustrating, though, and the author still struggles with setting imagery and establishing clear scenes and describing actions vividly. Otherwise, it would've been 5 stars. less
