review 1: First read of Ellis though I have read Patterson. Early on Page 18, "License plate KL-543-301. Does that sound right?" Doesn't sound right to me since Illinois has only seven spaces in the plate. I seen this before when the police or someone in the court story rattles off license plate information that is not in agreement with the state configurations. Ellis is an attorney and it is interesting that he actually uses dialog from a court. Jason Kolarich seems to have very deep pocket to be able to support the defence team that he draws from his retirement funds. Again I repeat Ellis is an attorney and sure knows more about criminal law that I do. How Stoller can be tried as sane because he doesn't answer question for the DA is a reach IMO. The ending was not as expe... morected.
review 2: Jason Kolarich is a prosecuting attorney turned criminal defense lawyer who accepts the case of a homeless Iraq War vet (who suffers from PTSD which has triggered schizophrenia) charged with the death of a young woman. The mob is involved (after all, it is Chicago) and some wealthy businessmen are not what they seem. I find Ellis' stories on par with John Grisham especially in the courtroom. Definitely a B+ read. less

The trial action was OK, but the secondary plot, terrorism, was distracting and weird.
