review 1: In Seattle in 1962, Walter Cousins, a guy who weighs risk for a living, takes a risk of his own, and makes the biggest error of his life. He sleeps with Diane Burroughs, the not-quite-legal British au pair who’s taking care of his children for the summer. Diane gets pregnant and leaves their baby on a doorstep, but not before turning the tables on Walter and setting in motion a tragedy. Their orphaned child, adopted by an adoring family and named Edward Aaron King, grows up to become a billionaire Internet tycoon and an international celebrity who through life toward a fate he may has no power to shape. A book with many twists and turns and totally mesmerizing!
review 2: There were some parts that were slow, but overall, I liked the book. The story spans fiv... moree decades, following the lives of three people - Walter, Diane, and their son, Ed, who grows into the one of the richest men in the world. The catch is, Walter doesn't know his son exists; Diane doesn't know the identity of the child she gave up on a doorstep; and Ed, who has no clue as to how his parents have shaped his life. Some surprises, but most of the plot was predictable. less
