review 1: My rating for this book would actually be 3.5 stars, but not 4. Everything leading up to the action was really creepy and suspenseful. I don't often get scared by a book, but I read a lot of this book late at night and it did have me looking nervously around the room a few times as I was reading. However, the payoff was not as satisfying as I would have liked and the final action scenes were where the book lets itself down. Still, I did enjoy the book and will be looking for book two when it comes out.
review 2: In a way, I am happy that I finished this book. I am not a fan of the horror genre and this one is definitely of the paranormal. I found the book by mistake. I saw that David Lynn Goleman had written it and I am a big fan of his “Event Group” ser... moreies. It is about a very haunted house and the book mirrors the production of reality shows on television. The book shows the behind the scenes of the back-stabbing, double-crossing that takes place in the world of reality television. One of the main characters, Kelly Delaphoy, is a bright, ambitious producer that is climbing the corporate ladder. She comes up with the idea of a live television show that airs on Halloween about a very haunted estate called Summer Place. She brings in a renowned paranormal expert, Gabriel Kennedy, who has had a terrifying experience with the mansion. He, in turn, puts together a team of experts that will find out the story behind Summer Place. Spooky, creepy and scary are only a few words that describe this fast moving book. Worth the time, even if you don’t like the genre. Believe me, you will definitely hear a lot more creaks and groans around the house as you read this. The only drawback is that the copy I bought was physically heavy. The paper stock was heavy even with a soft cover binding. Great entertainment……………………BOOO! less
