review 1: A quick read, this clever story about a stray Himalayan kitten rescued by the Dalai Lama is an engaging introduction to Buddhism and the science of improving one's mind (and life). HHC, as she becomes known, narrates the story through her perspective as His Holiness and staff receive visitors from all over the world. Each chapter introduces a different topic or facet of Buddhism, and I loved how Michie wove real people, such as Venerable Robina, Lama Yeshe, and members of the Dalai Lama's staff, into the story. Recommended for anyone interested in an introduction to Buddhist thought and those who enjoy spiritual / parable type books such as The Tao of Pooh, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, or The Alchemist. Lastly, thanks to my Mom for suggesting and loaning me this ... morebook.
review 2: Honestly! I have never written a review. I cannot be a critic, for I cannot generalise my personal taste. But I can still tell you why I loved 'The Dalai Lama's Cat'. Its simplicity sank me in; with not much interest I picked it; and was unable to put it down. It is spiritual in its own way. You smile and laugh at times while HHC (His Holiness's Cat) takes you through the basics of Buddhism. HHC's narration is witty. It tickles you, but then it makes you think. It taught me things. It made me feel more human. For me it solved its purpose. less

Absolutely fantastic book. So much to learn through the anecdotes of a cat's point of view.
