review 1: Real talk: This book lost two stars because there was only ONE female writer/artist on the team of SIXTEEN. One. And it showed, because there was all of ONE female patron in the inn telling stories, aside from the innkeeper, and most of the females in the stories were "won" by the male heroes. Kind of disappointing. It had a lot of potential otherwise. The idea was cute. The artwork was nice. But as a female reader who LOVES fantasy and Redwall-esque medieval animal fantasies, I was really disappointed in the lack of female representation. Dunno if I'm gonna bother reading the other volumes of these comics that we have at the library, to be honest.
review 2: My Mouse guard crazy students will gobble up this collection of stories inspired by artists and authors w
... moreho work in the world of Peterson's Mouse guard series. The various artists work both in styles similar and dis-similar to Peterson's, and some stories are better than others. I myself miss Peterson's gorgeous art work, though it appears in between the stories. Many of my younger readers will not follow some of the stories, but even if all they do is look at the pictures, they will be richer for it. 4th grade and up. less

Exceptional art and story. If I collected graphic novels, I would definitely have this series.

My son loves these. I like the art, and the nod to Poe was pretty cool too.
