review 1: 2nd in the series. Interesting background of the story of Stephen from the Bible. If you don't know the story, read it...Acts 7:54-60. Also the background of Ananias and Sapphira...Acts 5:1-11. Again, I know it is fiction but it does give life to the stories I read in the Bible. I gave this one a 3 star because I was not really vested in the lives of the character. The sadness was there, but no anguish. Love was there, but no desire. Anger was there, but no rage. Off to the third book in the series.
review 2: I read this and the first book since I had it, and I have to say I don't really like them. There is no passion in the what they call "love". I personally like Ted Dekker, because he paints love and passion so well and doesn't shy away from a good
... morekiss in his books, unlike these ones. I got the third one at the library, but decided not to read it because I didn't really like the series. I suppose this has nothing to do with the books themselves but that was my view on it. It made for a crappy romance, although that wasn't what it was all about. Rather boring. Maybe it's because I'm a teenager but maybe it's because it's my personality. I like things to have passion! That's what love is right? Nothing like that in this book. There, I'm done ranting. less
