review 1: I really liked this book. I really admired how determined and persistent Parvana was not just with school but also in other aspects of her life also. It was a bit flat the first one or two chapters but from then on it was very engaging and I just couldn't put it down. I like how it has a bit of real world issues and what a women in her country would go through but with a bit of a fictional twist. I learned a lot of things reading this book from the Taliban to strict laws, dress codes for women. This book is about a young girl named Parvana and her struggles from siblings to a bombed out school, lost family members. She is imprisoned by the American soldiers and questioned the only problem she will NOT respond to any question no matter the language-could she be a terrorist?... more Why was she wandering around in a bombed out school? I recommend this book for a more on the serious side read.
review 2: I thought that 'My name is Parvana' was an interesting aspect on what life is like in a different world. I enjoyed reading this short novel although i found it frustrating at times because i didnt completely understand why she had to keep quiet. it was out of pride and loyalty but there comes a time where i would most likely crack and speak if i was put into that situation. overall i enjoyed reading this novel. less
