review 1: I usually like these ensemble novels with multiple stories (one for each character) weaving together through common setting or action. I didn't like this one, though. Though the ending is relatively positive, so much of the action is set to prove the carpe diem theme (it's never too late to learn to live for the moment and let onesself go), emphasizing the letting themselves going. Then there are the characters--some are ok, but some are most are less than admirable, and some are downright despicable.

... moret up as we met the various players but once all the pieces were in play things dragged a little before rushing to a manic finale. Despite that I enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone wanting a nice summer read. less
