review 1: This book is pretty good, but I felt a little indifferent to the end. At first he weaves an easy to follow story about a guy, down on his luck. He meets a strange new friend who challenges him to look at things differently by placing him in situations. He learns and you learn with him. All well and good, but at the very end, the guy reaches pure enlightenment and metaphorically flies off the end of the pier after having giving up everything.Yeah right...from schmoe to enlightenment in about 6 months.But if you can get over the dopey ending, it lays out some great points and I enjoyed reading it!
review 2: Easy read, it's always good for me to be reminded that fear, ego and addiction get in the way of living in the moment with my spiritual self. Nothing new ... morein this book, I would have liked to have read more about the journey or "how to" of staying in that spiritual place rather than just recognizing that you need to find it. I realize the last chapter does show this but the book really ended for me before the last chapter. I would have liked the last chapter to have been included in Mickey's journey. less
