review 1: I was truly enjoying this book at the beginning but by time it ended I was perplexed. First, I loved Jonathan's character at the beginning and how he wanted and waited for Victoria and how they both shared their first kiss...I loved the letters that were written between them...now here is where it gets a little weird...Jonathan gets taken by a scam while is in Venice and instead of him coming back to England...HIS HOME...and ask the help of his one true best friend Grayson, he decided to turn to an adulterous man whore and servant...and he is a VISCOUNT...the story line is just simply unbelievable. So now after 5 years and having abandon Victoria he decides to come back and claim her but his whole demeanor has changed. One minute he is sexual, emotionally open to Victoria ... moreand then in the next he is an emotional hostile man. The scene towards the end with him pursuing the duel was totally out of character for him..I was completely taken back and left not really liking him anymore.Dislike1)Story line: they could have at least made Jonathan a possible assassin or some kind of muscle to collect debts for this Kingpin in Venice instead of him becoming a male whore2)After 5 long years of waiting for Victoria, the author gave them a small unconnected sexual experience for their first time together. I expected fireworks and emotions soaring in the scene..it's like if you are not going to commit to these characters then why bother with the story at all3)I didn't like the change in Jonathan one bit, he was more of a mouse then a man..no control over anything4)The author gave her father Syphlis out of no where...I mean gee wiz where did that come from5)The Ending needs a complete makeover
review 2: I'm giving it 4 stars because this is one of the few books I have ever read that deal with MEN being "ideal" and not compromising their principles. Mostly you see women take on this role but it was reversed. OH, Remington had to compromise...but he didn't lose his IDEAL in the process.I read the scandals out of order, this being the last I read. I think I was expecting Remington's "flaw" to be more on the order of the first two books and this was refreshing. The flawed character seemed to be Victoria. less
