review 1: Of course, I will read anything that "The Arch" has written, but this one was especially well-written and relevant in my own life. I've had some opportunities to forgive, and to forgive myself, within the last two years, and for a long time I wasn't sure how I would know when I had fully forgiven. There were times when I thought I had, but then more anger would emerge in response to some event, and I would think, "I'm not really very far along on this path." Tutu reminds us that forgiveness is a journey that passes through different stages, and that sometimes, simply wishing a person well is forgiveness. I have come to that point, at least. He doesn't let us off the hook, though, in that we all need to be forgiven and to forgive. It is a an important reminder that I too mi... moreght be, or do, the same things that the person who has hurt me did. I am no different than anyone else who does something hurtful. I want to be able to forgive fully and he assures readers that we can all do this with conscious kindness.
review 2: This is a beautifully written and powerful map to forgiveness and the power of forgiveness in each of our lives and to all of us as an interconnected people. Not only are there narratives, some of which are very difficult emotionally, there are clear step-by-step guides, journal and meditation exercises, and support resources offered throughout the book. It is a book that you may want to own rather than borrow as actually working through the process is so valuable and the structure provided is really quite wonderful. It is not a cover-to-cover read, rather it provides a path for deep reflection and important action. less
