review 1: I am not typically a fan of apologetic writers. I appreciate what Mr. Rose is trying to say and how he is saying it, but as a cradle Catholic, I am not the target audience. I picked this book up hoping to gather a bit more insight into the general mindset of mainstream protestants. This book is a massive undertaking and I was impressed by the author's ability to be so concise with such large topics.
review 2: This book is a masterful work of Catholic apologetics. It has all the arguments -- historical, philosophical and theological -- in a concise easy-to-read volume. I've exhausted an entire highlighter on this book because of the abundance of precisely-phrased and highly quotable arguments to use in the Catholic/Protestant debate. If I had to pick just one b... moreook to give to non-Catholic Christians it would be this one as it represents the greatest challenge to Protestantism that I've read. It occupies a place of honor next to very best works of Catholic apologetics and it would be among the last in my collection that I would be willing to give up. A book all Christians should read and re-read. less
