review 1: I enjoyed following Astrid's story and her continued training in unicorn hunting. This book didn't flow as well or grab my interest as much as the first book (Rampant) did. Astrid is presented with the opportunity to "guard" a herd of einhorns in France and is mislead by both her ex-boyfriend and Isabeau at Gordian. The book was a quick read and there was lots going on, just not as engrossing as the first book.
review 2: If I could dive right into the next book, maybe I'd feel differently, but this book just doesn't stand up on its own. The pacing is strange, plot points are introduced and then abandoned, and there's a love triangle for no reason at all (with a new, third party who is utterly disgusting and not remotely believable as a viable interest). ... morenderstand that sometimes it takes a while for books to come out, and all that, but I do think that if you know it's going to be a while between books then you should make some effort to have each installment work on its own, at least somewhat. This didn't really. less
