review 1: The only one thing that sucks for me in this book is the fact that I read it before the first one. So I guess the problem is with me, and not the book. Because really, how could anyone have problems with it? My god, this book could be a book by itself. The main character, Astrid, was just the ideal heroine. She's a strong, independent woman, who obviously don't need no man. Seriously, I was howling and rooting for her at the end. And the concept, the plot, the characters--they were all just amazing. It also talks about unicorns--and by unicorns, I don't mean the fluffy kind that Agnes from despicable me likes, but the savage, flesh eating ones--which is a super bonus. (4.5 Stars)
review 2: Ascendant is incredibly sad, and didn't end the way I hoped or expected
... moreit to when I first started reading Rampant, but I liked it anyway. In Rampant, I loved how strong Astrid was and how true she stayed to her values, and she remained that way in Ascendant, despite facing even more obstacles. If you're looking for a happy ending you shouldn't read this book, but if you're open to a less-than-fairy-tale conclusion, Ascendant is definitely worth reading. less

I like this "series"? It's an interesting twist on our mythology of unicorns.
