review 1: Donna Andrews got me started on reading cozy mysteries with the first Meg Langslow book "Murder With Peacocks" years ago. I was looking at mysteries for something new to read and got captured by the title and cover! Thankfully, the titles and covers have continued that theme, because they appeal to my sense of humor! Hen of the Baskervilles just happened to follow my reading of the Hound of the Baskervilles which added to the humor for me. Going to a "county" fair where there is thievery, mayhem, and murder with Meg and her relatives and llamas is a very enjoyable read! Since I am a paperback reader, I am a book behind. Being a mom of twins just adds to the delight!
review 2: Enjoy this lighthearted series set in rural virginia, but could be anywhere. Meg, Mic
... morehael, rob, mother, dr. Langslow, the Chief, the Schiffleys, rose noire, assorted animals, especially the hens, and the rival next door county all have a roll in this mystery. The Un Fair is off to a rough start, when some exhibits are destroyed or stolen. As in previous stories super organized meg is trying to bring calm to the chaos. The story moves quickly And the culprit and motive do not become clear until the close to the end. Quirky family members abound and most are I. Meg's family. less

Oddly enough it reminds me of some of the state fairs that, as a child, I went to with my family.

A romp through the fair - with the usual murder and mayhem. And llamas.

Interesting take on "County" Fairs.
