Commissario Brunetti
review 1: This is the second or third of Leon's books that I've read in this series. I love that the city of Venice is one of the main characters. Although I like the character of Brunetti and his wife, I find that the mystery always seems truncated, as though it has to be wrapped up in a certain number of pages. For me, there is very little depth in the characters, with the exception of forementioned two. This one was about thefts from libraries and I would have liked to have read more about that.
review 2: The book is simple and easy to read. It is one of those open mysteries where the killer could have been anyone in a given city, though the pool of suspects is narrowed down by the detective until only a known character could have done it. The idea of starting the mys
... moretery with a robbery (and an antique book robbery nonetheless, who would imagine that would interest the police...) and finding the murder only half through the book is interesting and not usually done. I liked it, though the ending is soft and not very conclusive. Commissario Brunnetti will probably come to represent a big section of my readings, though not as big as Agatha Christie. less
