review 1: The second in a series of four books chronicling the exploits of the GCPD, this was just as good as the initial book. Try as they might, the Gotham City Police Department cannot handle to types of super-villains without the help of Batman. They do a great job trying in this volume and, for the most part, are fairly successful. With this continuing story arc, I am looking forward to the next installment.
review 2: With the Gotham TV show coming soon, got inspired to read more of the Gotham Central series focusing on the police of Gotham City. ... moremystery! Writers Brubaker and Rucka are each masters of the gritty detective genre, and artist Michael Lark gives the comic that classic noir look. The Joker story "Soft Bullets" is a particular highlight in the collection, with the writers striking the right balance for Joker of being a psychotic murderer who still makes you laugh despite yourself. It's definitely one of the best Joker stories I've read in a while. less
