review 1: Pixar built its business on principles of innovation, creativity, and excellence. Creativity, Inc. by Pixar founder and president Ed Catmull is a fascinating look inside the people and ideas that make Pixar what it is. Part history, part business philosophy, Creativity, Inc. provides a unique perspective on the role of creativity in any organized endeavor, and how to build and sustain a creative culture. Of special note are the insights into Steve Jobs, the critical role he played in building Pixar and the influence he had on the people involved.
review 2: It was interesting to hear the stories behind some of Pixar's movies and how they evolved into the stories I have come to love. Ed Catmull shares some great information in this book and I would recommend it
... moreto people who are working in businesses that require a good amount of creativity. That group of people is small however and I'm not sure I would pass this book along to others. The way he tells his anecdotes is not very engaging and turns some good stories into tedious ones. I found myself halfway though the book wishing it would be over. I'm glad I stuck with it as he shares some great insights and useful thoughts to consider, even if I'm not sure how to apply them to my life, but I wish he had implemented a 'brain trust' for this book. less
