review 1: I would really give this 3 1/2 stars. I liked the way the story was re-told from the perspective of new characters. It really gave me a different look at what was going on in the world. This 2nd installment did take us a couple steps further and gave us a lot more information on the aliens than in the first book. However, there were, to me, many things that happened that were implausible. While some suspension of belief is needed for most dystopian type books, there were a few times that I thought the book went a little too far. I am still planning on reading the last book though!
review 2: A good sequel to Breakers. There is largely a new set of characters but again they are treated well and seem to be fully formed people not simply gun waving survivalis
... morets. Curiously there is not much crossover between characters from book one, but the two book certainly fit together in terms of plot as the events in Breakers influence the plot of Meltdown. Robertson may have taken some of his influence from George R R Martin in his treatment of his characters, but not at all a bad thing. less

I really liked it, I just wish the author would stop using the phrase "Rolled his eyes".

Just as good as the first in the series.

Better than a 3 but not quite a 4!
